Brain Injury Recovery
Horses can help heal brain injuries and improve function after stroke or TBI.
For those who have experienced, or had a loved one experience, a brain injury completely understand the complicated recovery that follows. Equine Assisted Recovery has been proven to help stroke and traumatic brain injured patients as well as, or better than, traditional after care. We can help reconnect damaged pathways in a new, judgment free, outdoor and fun environment. Not only do clients show improvement in physical symptoms but in word use, behavior control and emotional self regulation. This can be achieved in solo sessions or in a group/support setting.
In response to the growing need for therapeutic opportunities for veterans, New Dawn Equine Ranch Valor program uses equine-assisted activities (Adaptive Equestrian Sport) to aid wounded warriors in recovery. Participants of the program often have diagnoses like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or traumatic brain injury (TBI), both of which can have global effects on physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioral health.
With the help of our equine partners, we provide these individuals the opportunity to regain valuable skills lost due to injury or trauma in a safe and supportive environment.
