Investment, Insurance and Scholarships

New Dawn Equine Ranch is a Non Profit 501c3 Corporation. This is a passion that comes with great expense. We are constantly fundraising and looking for ways to provide as many people with services as possible. While I wish I could offer all services for free, the fact is that horses are expensive. I have tried to limit the cost and am willing to work with you to find a solution to access help.

Since many of you may not be familiar with how much horse services cost, here is a quick example of part of my monthly expenses:

Hay - Each horse requires 25lbs of hay a day. That is roughly 225lbs of hay per day for 9 horses. Which is 6,750lbs of hay per month on average. Now hay is sold by the ton(2000lbs), current cost per ton is $385-485 depending on quality and type. I use roughly 3.5 tons a MONTH, which is anywhere from $1347-1698 PER MONTH. In the winter easily add 25% for added calorie needs.
Grain, Supplements: Horses require minerals and many require grain to fill in gaps in their individual health needs. My average grain and supplement cost per month is $850
Hoof Care: Every 5-6 weeks horses need their feet trimmed and some need shoes. To trim a horse is $60 and to shoe a horse is $140. I have 7 that are trimmed and 2 that are shoed. That is $700 every 5-6 weeks for the Farrier.

I'm sure you get the point. These 3 things alone are over $3000 a month, this doesn't even include vet, vaccines, worming, shavings, treats, electricity, insurance and fuel costs. Let alone my time. So thank you for understanding!

Insurance Payments

Some insurance companies will pay for equine services if your physician writes an order for it. I am willing to help provide you with whatever documentation is necessary to facilitate payment. Most of the time, your insurance company will reimburse you directly. Feel free to talk to me to make an action plan for payments. I am not a direct provider for any insurance companies.

Scholarships

Scholarships are based upon donations and sponsors. To be considered for a full or partial scholarship please fill out the application below. The decision for approval will be made by the non profit board unless specified use is requested by the donor.
